As an alternative to traditional screen printing, we also offer a Giclee print service. Also known as digital pigment printing, or archival digital inkjet printing, the term Giclee comes from the French verb gicler meaning ‘spray, spout, or squirt’. The word Giclee is used to describe the technique of how the digital printer applies the ink to the paper. High resolution artworks are printed using pigment inks onto archival fine art papers, creating extremely accurate print reproductions of the highest quality which are fade-resistant for a minimum of 60 years.
Due to the flexible nature of this process there is no minimum order, Giclee printing has a swift turnaround and can often be a more cost-effective option to screen-print editions.
We produce Giclee prints in our digital studio using Epson SureColor P9000 machines. These large format printers utilise the latest generation of pigment ink technology providing a much wider tonal range with outstanding quality. We are capable of producing a maximum size of 110cm by any width.
Before each giclee edition, we produce a digital proofing strip. This is then sent to you to make sure you’re happy with how the colours are represented in print. Once we’ve completed this process, we’ll discuss your preference to create the final edition.
We are also able to add silkscreen elements to an archival inkjet edition. A range of finishes can be added to a Giclee print, including gloss varnish, specific colours, metallic ink and metallic leafing. This dual method provides a tactile quality to otherwise matte digital prints, highlighting specific elements of artwork and producing a custom, premium finish to an edition.
All our Giclee prints are straight-cut by hand to ensure complete accuracy and a razor-sharp finish. We’re also able to provide services like blind embossing to elevate the appearance of your print. Please note, due to the paper’s coating, we are unable to hand-tear Giclee prints.
We pack and ship our work with the utmost care and attention. We interleave our prints with acid-free paper, and design and hand-make custom packaging for every order. All editions are shipped with a dedicated fine art handler, whether domestic or international, to ensure safe delivery of your edition.
